About Cobalt Exploration and its Affiliates - History
Early innovation: Experience and strong values is the foundation of Cobalt Exploration. We have been serving the needs of the oil, gas, coal and hard rock mining industry since 1947. Company origins trace back to infrastructure and heavy construction including water dams, highways and bridges. We pride ourselves in being part of building the first highway connecting Alaska to United States through Canada, the "Alcan Highway".
Steady growth: In the early 1950's we expanded our services into flying and exploration. Through our factory base in Montana, USA we converted and restored a variety of aircrafts which led to a unique form of firefighting as well as remote helicopter support drilling for oil, gas and hard rock mineral exploration. Our strong client portfolio included companies such as Stillwater, PGM, Anaconda, Arco, Texaco, Mobil, Exxon, Petro-hunt, Velaro, SP, Pan African, BP and Chesapeake as well as many others.
Rapid expansion: During the early 1960's we added another phase in our portfolio by manufacturing oil and gas equipment for exploration as well as the production of all terrain vehicles. By the late 1960's we became one of the largest oil and gas equipment manufacturers in the world.
New era: In the last 20 years our primary focus in the energy industry has been oil, gas, coal and hard rock mineral exploration, drilling and mine development. Through our advanced helicopter support drilling and heavy equipment manufacturing we are able to work in the most challenging and remote areas. Given our capability and diversity of services, we have worked for all major energy companies world wide. Our portfolio includes work in dessert and mountain terrain, dense forests and jungle environments, transition zones and shallow waters, through arctic territories and urban interfaces as well as in environmentally sensitive areas. We have always taken pride in being able to complete projects around the world regardless of the difficulty or location. Our ultimate goal is to maximize hydrocarbon recovery with the lowest production costs without sacrificing excellence in service.
